FIELD: Information System and Security
Busan International College (BIC) at Tongmyong University, located in Busan, South Korea, invites applications for full-time faculty positions. We seek passionate educators committed to pushing the boundaries of higher education. BIC, a newly launched undergraduate college, aims to cultivate the next generation of global innovators through innovative teaching methods. Our diverse student body engages in academic and co-curricular activities founded on the ACT (Active learning to build Creativity and Thought-leadership) philosophy. All courses are conducted entirely in English.
Course topics may include, but are not limited to, OOP, Machine Learning Programming, and Cloud Platform.
The starting salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. BIC faculty and their families are covered under the Korean health insurance system and the advantageous Korean Teachers’ Pension Plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. degree in the related filed (Information Technology or Computer Engineering) or advancement to candidacy by the time of application
- Ability to teach in English (assessed through online or in-person interviews)
- No disqualifications according to private school faculty appointment and university personnel regulations
- Holder of or eligible for an E-1 visa
- Meets the qualifications for assistant professor or higher as per the "Regulations on University Faculty Qualifications"
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with IT projects
- At least 3 years of university-level teaching experience (including community colleges)
- Strong commitment to active learning pedagogies and a willingness to explore new teaching methods and technologies
- Demonstrated success in supervising students in business projects and other experiential learning settings
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students and faculty from diverse cultural backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidates will:
- - Teach undergraduate courses and participate in program development.
- - Supervise students in their academic and non-academic journeys.
- - Develop new courses and extracurricular activities.
- - Contribute to the development of a culture of teaching excellence at the college.
- - Represent and promote BIC within academic and professional networks.
- - Perform administrative duties as required by the college.
